Officers investigating an alleged assault and criminal damage incident in Ferndown are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

At around 12.55am on Sunday 2 May 2022 officers were called to reports of a disturbance on the campsite of Bluebird Social Club in Ham Lane. It is alleged that one man was assaulted during the incident and that a lawnmower was set alight.

A 47-year-old man from Wimborne was arrested on suspicion of common assault and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Mal Dye, of Dorset Police, said: “This incident took place over the early May Bank Holiday weekend and I know there were a number of families and young children on the campsite at the time.

“Thankfully the fire was extinguished before it spread to the fuel tank, and potentially averted a dangerous explosion.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to please contact Dorset Police as they may have important information that could assist my investigation.”
