At 10.11pm on Wednesday 4 October 2023 Dorset Police received a report of a collision on the B3078 Julians Road involving a red Vauxhall Corsa and a bicycle.

The cyclist, named by his family as 40-year-old James Raeburn, sustained serious injuries and very sadly died at the scene.

A local woman aged in her 20s was arrested in connection with the incident, and, following detailed enquiries by the traffic unit, she has been charged with causing death by driving without due care or consideration while unfit through drugs, causing death by due care while over the prescribed limit, using a motor vehicle or trailer in a condition likely to cause danger of injury, and failing to stop after an accident. She is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 3 June 2024.
