Young man in a life threatening condition following collision

Officers investigating a collision involving an electric bicycle in Lytchett Matravers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report at 10.10pm on Sunday 2 July 2023 relating to the incident in Wareham Road, which involved an electric bicycle, which had the appearance of an off-road motorbike. It was reported that there were other motorcycles in the vicinity at the time of the collision.

Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and the 19-year-old male rider of the electric bicycle was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

Police Constable Calum Maton, of the traffic unit, said: “We are investigating the full circumstances of this incident and I would urge any witnesses to please make contact with us. 

“We are aware there were several motorcycles in and around the Lytchett Matravers area at the time of the incident and I am particularly keen to hear from these individuals as I believe they may have important information that could assist my investigation.

“Finally, I would also urge anyone who was driving in the vicinity around the relevant time to please check any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance that might assist our enquiries.”
