Abbey Pharmacy, the long-established Sherborne town centre pharmacy and perfumery has continued its links with the Sherborne Foodbank.

The pharmacy has run a number of Christmas campaigns over recent years raising funds, purchasing food and provisions, then distributing it to the food bank.

Abbey Pharmacy has now gone a stage further and has launched a summer campaign for the food bank. Throughout August and September, the pharmacy will donate one article of toiletry for every person that signs up for their newsletter.

Also, to help the foodbank further, they are also setting up an in-store drop off point, where anyone can put items they would like to donate to the charity. Abbey Pharmacy will then deliver these to the food bank.

Said owner, Mike Hewitson, “Everyone thinks people need the food bank in the run-up to Christmas. That’s very true, but the need is there all year round. The requirements in the summer may be different, but they still exist. Basic toiletries such as soap, shower gel and hair shampoo are badly needed. The list of items required is as long as it is at Christmas. We hope, in a small way we can help.

All people have to do is call in and sign up for our newsletter. If they cannot call in, they can go to our website and click on the link. It costs nothing, and we will make the donation.”
