Shocked. Did not know he was ill. Many more much closer to him will be devastated. He stood up for humanity when too many sloth.

Saddened to lose our good & loyal friend Jeremy Hardy. As well as being a brilliant comedian, whenever the call for solidarity went out, Jeremy courageously supported campaigns for social justice from the Guildford 4, the miners strike to the plight of refugees. We all loved him.

Rest In Power Jeremy Hardy – sticking it to the bourgeoisie with devastating wit for as long as I can remember – a hugely effective writer and activist for the left + the anti-war and Palestinian struggles. Always there, fearlessly, at the right time. Condolences to all…

Here is Jeremy Hardy dropping truth bomb after truth bomb on Tony Blair & Alistair Campbell after the release of the Chilcot Report. A man who spoke truth to power. Rest in power. pic.twitter.com/dzCRknzESC

‘Jeremy Hardy
A marvellous human being, a comedy genius and a great friend.
He always said yes when I asked him to do a benefit no matter how big or small (which was many, many times).
He fought for me long and hard to get on ‘The News Quiz’ when the producers were ‘nervous’ about booking me.
He made us laugh non-stop for 2 weeks when we toured Ireland together.
He performed at more JC4PM shows than anyone else.
He never wavered in his support for humane, kind, and peaceful politics.
His brilliance, compassion and bravery will be truly missed and the world will be a darker place without him.
A wonderful man gone too early’
