A tragic incident involving the reported death of an asylum seeker has occurred aboard the Bibby Stockholm barge at Portland Port in Dorset, which the government has designated as accommodation for migrants. An individual residing on the boat initially informed ITV News about the fatality, stating that the asylum seeker was discovered deceased this morning.

The person onboard became aware of an issue when two ambulances and three police vehicles arrived, but they, along with others, were left uninformed about the situation for more than an hour.

Additionally, a lawyer representing another asylum seeker residing on the vessel has verified the death, a confirmation echoed by the Care4Calais charity.

This comes in the shadow of far-right Conservative politicians continuing to put their racist ideology over human lives.

And local racists continue to spew vile and disgusting comments and lies about other human beings.

It has now been confirmed that the person who died took his own life.

In a statement, the refugee charity Care4Calais, said, “Our thoughts are with the person who has lost their life, their family, and their friends.”.

“It is also with all those stuck on board the Bibby Stockholm who will be experiencing a deep feeling of grief and worry today,” said Care4Calais CEO Steve Smith.
