Over the past 5 weeks, members of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign BCP, along with other local groups, have organised and led hundreds of people from the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole areas to protest the brutal genocide being carried out against innocent civilians in Gaza (and the West Bank).

On Tuesday 7th November at 7pm BCP Council will be holding a full council meeting at which the BCP Green Party will be tabling a motion calling for an immediate ceasefire. The motion can be found here. Members and supporters of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign will be at the town hall to make sure their message is heard loud and clear: “CEASEFIRE NOW!”

We are calling on BCP Councillors of all parties and independents to support this motion and show that they can put their humanitarian principles before party or political loyalty. What is happening now in Gaza is genocide, ethnic cleansing, and a grotesque breach of international human rights law. Make no mistake, our councillors will be judged by what they decide to do on November 7th.
Bilal Yasin from Palestine Solidarity Campaign is clear: “

As representatives of our community, we want all our politicians, councillors, MPs, and all other elected officials to work tirelessly for an immediate ceasefire – nothing more, nothing less. The suggestion of humanitarian pauses do not go far enough. This is the minimum moral obligation, and as representatives of our community, we demand that you call for an immediate ceasefire and go to the government to demand that they also call for an immediate ceasefire. Anyone with any sort of humanity would say the same thing. We are witnessing a genocide in real time and we will not rest until our elected representatives do the only decent thing and call for a ceasefire.
