The Fat Satyr has shot his bolt on the subject of Scottish independence. The break-up of the UK has already begun, because of Brexit. The North of Ireland is now a part of the EU and Ireland, and nothing to do with Brexit-land.“

The campaign for another Scottish independence referendum is “completely irrelevant” and most people want to focus on beating the pandemic, Boris Johnson says. “On a visit north of the border, the prime minister attacked the SNP’s failure to give “any clear description of what the constitutional situation will be”, if the party succeeded in breaking up the UK.“

“We don’t know what the point of it would be, or what happens to the army, what happens to the crown, what happens to the pound, what happens to the Foreign Office, what happens to security,” he told reporters.

”I am sure that the SNP has all these things thought out. For example, the army will be split up by Regiment (and there are a lot of Celtic troops in the British Army). England will then remove its useless nuclear weapons from Scotland, and stockpile them in… Boris’ constituency. The Crown is dealt with in a far simpler manner. The Queen is Elizabeth II of England, but Elizabeth I of Scotland. The problem will be with her son – he would be Charles III of England and Scotland. But having a peripatetic monarch is not unknown in European history (Charles V).

And as for the economy, better to be poor and master in your own home, than be slightly richer and the butt of your neighbour’s whims, jokes and casual racism.

The Union is dead, and Boris is the rock upon which is foundered.
