Borough residents, organisations and visitors are being invited to have their say on a review of current dog related orders in the borough.

Weymouth & Portland Borough Council is required to consult on current dog related orders and proposed changes under the new Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

Following consultation, Dog Control Orders will become part of Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs). The borough council is required to consult on these orders every three years to ensure public engagement and consideration of public views.

The survey begins today (Monday 13 July) and will be running for 12 weeks until 2 October.

The results of the consultation will be reported to the council’s Policy Development Committee on 12 December.

Cllr Francis Drake, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s Briefholder for Community safety, said: “In order to inform decision making for the borough, we’d like to obtain views from as many respondents as possible.

“This consultation is an opportunity for all interested parties to have their say on what is best way forward for the PSPO’s in the borough.”
