Bournemouth’s Childcare Heroes Announced

The winners of Bournemouth’s Childcare and Children’s Centre Workers of the Year were announced at the Early Years Sector Awards held last week at the Bournemouth International Centre.

The Early Years Sector Awards is an annual event held to celebrate outstanding achievements within the childcare and children’s centre workforce. All those invited frequently go the extra mile to provide the best possible care and education for our children and support for their families. Over 400 local parents nominated their chosen workers.

The 2014 Childcarers of the Year are:

·        Childminder of the Year is Nathalie Hamdi

·        Children’s Centre Worker of the Year is Talene Radjabi-Pittwood

·        Day Nursery Worker of the Year is Emma Henwood

·        Playworker of the Year is Julie Finn

·        Pre-school Worker is Julia Hart

·        Special Educational Needs Worker is Davina Gahan

The event is managed by the Early Years Service within Bournemouth Borough Council and continues thanks to the generosity of local businesses and organisations that support the evening via sponsorship.

Deputy Leader, Councillor Nicola Greene, Cabinet member for Education & Children’s Services, said:

“The Early Years Sector provides one of the most important and essential roles within modern society.  This event recognises the professionalism and dedication of Bournemouth’s childcare and children’s centre workforce.  We place our future generation in their hands and this is our chance to say thank you for the amazing daily work which takes place locally.”

Other awards presented on the night include celebrating children’s centre volunteers and Children’s Centre Partners. Keynote speaker Jon Brookes from Wave 105 was also in attendance to talk about their Cash4kids charity and the launch of their Christmas toy appeal.
