Molly Scott Cato, lead candidate for the Green Party in next years European elections, and one of the UK’s leading Green Economists, is to speak at the Shelley Theatre on Saturday 31st August, at 2.45pm, on the second day of the Green Community Fair. Speaking on “Building a Green Europe” she will be outlining the role of European money in environmental projects, bringing power closer to the people and securing energy supply; particularly relevant in light of the recent concerns about fracking.

Professor Scott Cato who is Professor of Strategy and Sustainability at Roehampton University and part of Transition Stroud (where she is also a Councillor), has several qualifications including a PhD in Economics (Wales) and an MA from Oxford, and has written several publications about the green economy and the wise use of resources.  During the afternoon she will also be available for conversations at the Green Party Stall where local members will be happy to talk about their polices and activities.

The Fair is free, opens at 10am, and features a solar-powered stage, face-painting, bouncy castles, free performances, workshops and plays will happen alongside environmental and social features such as Friend’s of the Earth’s Bee Campaign and the Red Cross’s “Empty Chair Project”.
