Christchurch Accountants Nominated for Global Tax Award

A family firm of accountants based in Dorset has been nominated for The Acquisition International (AI) 2016 Tax Awards, designed to commend those in the tax sector dedicated to providing exceptional service.

For husband and wife partnership Clive and Saron Rusden from Christchurch Accountants, the nomination has come as a very pleasant surprise, on the back of them winningtheAccountancy Practice Start-Up Award at theBritish Accountancy Awards ceremony last year.

Since 2010 the Tax Awards have been organised annually by Acquisition International, UK publishers focussing on corporate legal and financial professions. These global awards are designed to recognise and promote excellence across all key practice areas including the International Tax Awards, the category for which Christchurch Accountants has been entered.

Speaking of the nomination Saron commented, “The notification that we had been shortlisted came out of the blue. We were advised that although these are global awards, they are there to recognise tax firms large and small; established firms and rising stars. We are thrilled to be nominated, although taxation is just part of the full accountancy services we provide for a wide range of companies, mainly, but not solely across Dorset and Hampshire.”

Before any winners are announced, Christchurch Accountants will now face an in-depth assessment process, including client testimonials; plus there will be a voting round prior to final selection from an independent jury panel.

Saron added, “Looking at previous winners of the AI Tax Awards, some of them have been smaller UK based accountancy practices similar to ours. We don’t know exactly what the judges will be looking for, but via our integrated accountancy services we do deal with many areas of tax such as year end and tax returns, VAT, corporation tax and inheritance tax. We work with private clients, sole traders, SME’s and corporate clients.

“We also represent professional sailors such as super yacht crew and professional yacht racers, managing their tax affairs under Seafarers Rules which is rather specialist. Likewise we have developed open and communicative relationships with HMRC for our work in business rescue plans, mediation and resolution. We may be a smaller firm, but we certainly pack a punch!”

The 2016 AI Tax Awards are sponsored by Hays recruiting experts in taxation, and the winning companies will be announced early next year.
