Well-known classical music written during WW1, including Sonatas by Elgar and Debussy, performed by pianist Sophia Rahman, violinist Andres Kaljuste and cellist Daisy Vatalaro.

A concert performance of Debussy Cello Sonata (1915), Kurt Roger Piano Sonata (1943) and Elgar Violin Sonata (1918) in the delightful Arts and Crafts setting of the main reception room in Norburton Hall.

Pre-concert event

The evening will commence with a workshop at 6pm when the performers will be joined by the illustrious composer Eleanor Alberga to introduce her piece, ‘No-Man’s-Land Lullaby’ together with the poems & articles about the First World War which inspired it. Other works will include Rebecca Clarke’s ‘Lullaby & Grotesque’ for the unusual combination of cello & violin, dating from 1916, & the Violin Sonata of Kurt Roger, from 1944. This workshop is free. You are strongly advised to book in advance as seating is limited.
