FRIDAY 16th November

Tom Caulfield Blues Band (Royal Portland Arms, Fortuneswell, Portland DT5 1LZ): Bo Diddley, Bill Withers, Lowell Fulson and Freddie King are among the giants that inform TCBB’s funky blues oeuvre. Tom is joined by George Hall, Jim Shearman and me.

Fluke (Finns, Westham Road, Weymouth DT4 8NU): Expertly-crafted songs from Squeeze, Genesis, Sting, Peter Gabriel and more.

Shooter/Hustle (Lazy Lizard, Esplanade, Weymouth DT4 8DG): A rock and funk double bill.

Slipped Disc (Royal Exchange, Weston, PortlandDT5 2BZ):Thin Lizzy to Eddie Floyd, The Who to Whitesnake

The Producers (The Exchange, Old Market Hill, Sturmister Newton DT10 1QU): Bournemouth’s award-winning blues outfit will be trawling their seven-album back catalogue and performing new material. The Great Pretender (Mr Kyps, Parr Street, Ashley Cross, Lower Parkstone, Poole BH14 0JY): The works of Freddie Mercury and Queen are celebrated her tonight and tomorrow night. SATURDAY 17th November

Million Dollar Bash(Tom Brown’s, High East Street, Dorchester DT1 1HU): A celebration of the works of Bob Dylan and The Band, performed by Kipper, Roye, Tom Caulfield, Ady Milward and me.

The Helm (Finns, Westham Road, Weymouth DT4 8NU): Electro-pop covers.

Ben Waters (Dorset County Museum, High West Street, Dorchester DT1 1XA): A solo performance from the boogie piano maestro. Doors open at 7.30pm; music from 8pm. Bookings on 01305 756827 or at[email protected]

The Motives (Dorchester Arts Centre, School Lane, The Grove, Dorchester DT1 1XR):Drawing their musical inspiration from 40s New York, 50s Chicago and 60s London, The Motives combine Matt Taylor’s electrifying guitar work with Jonny Dyke’s virtuoso Hammond & piano over the rock solid rhythm section of Roy Martin (drums) and Andy Graham (bass). Tickets are selling fast (over 50% gone at the time of writing), and they’re £12 in advance (£6 under 18′s and students with NUS card) or £13 each (£6.50 concessions) on the door. Left, Right & Centre(Golden Lion, St Edmund Street, WeymouthDT4 8AR): Ex-Hexagon members Andy, Steve and Tony conjure up a broad mix of music, re-working songs in their own unique style from artists such as Van Morrison, Supertramp, Ben Folds and Nat King Cole.

Mañana(Ropemakers, West Street, Bridport DT6 3QP): This six-piece Latin/ska band boast a sound that combines off-the-wall brass sounds with bass heavy grooves.

Chill (Crown Inn, West Bay Road, BridportDT6 4AX): 60s to 90s pop and rock covers.

Sylosis/Bullriff Stampede/Furyborn/Doomed from Day One/We Who Dare(Pavilion, Esplanade, Weymouth DT4 8ED):Every generation of metal bands has its pioneers – groups that re-define the genre musically and take it to a new level, and Sylosis are hailed as such, Not for nothing that the quartet from Reading, is considered to be the UK’s greatest metal export. Hourglass strike again!

Gentlemen’s Dub Club (Mr Kyps, Parr Street, Ashley Cross, Lower Parkstone, Poole BH14 0JY):Dub, ska and roots reggae from this nine-piece band from Leeds. doors open at 8pm; admission is £10 in advance or £13 on the door.
