Dorset County Hospital’s diagnostic imaging team are delighted to be able to offer patients the latest in x-ray technology.
DCH is the first district general hospital in the country to install a new fluoroscopy system from Xograph Healthcare.
Fluoroscopy is an imaging technique that uses x-rays to obtain real-time moving images of the internal structures of a patient.
The fluoroscopy equipment is used for a wide range of tests, including a variety of barium examinations. For example, when a stroke patient has difficulty swallowing, this sophisticated equipment is used to evaluate the patient’s swallowing function. Other examples are investigations of female infertility and tear duct blockages.
Radiography operational superintendent Linda Chappell said: “We are really pleased to offer local patients state-of-the-art fluoroscopy investigations on this new digital equipment.
“Patients have had to travel to other local hospitals for their appointments. Now the waiting times will be shorter and it’s much more convenient for our inpatients.
“As always our diagnostic imaging team is looking to offer the best possible service to our patients.”
