A week is a long time in football. Last week Poole Town were royally spanked 5-0 in the F.A cup away to today’s opponents Yate Town, but not this time. Everything about today’s game was different. There was never going to be a repeat of the 5-0 mauling, the lads were right up for this, and so were the RWA, Poole Town’s travelling supporters, the Red and White Army. Right from the kick off, the Tommy Killicks’ charges dominated their Gloucestershire counter parts. Eleven minutes gone and….BOOM! Captain fantastic Michael Walker puts the Dolphins 1-0 up and sends the RWA into ecstasy, Yate were never really in it after that. Biased view? Well perhaps, but who gives a monkey’s. 46 minutes gone and WALLOP! New strike sensation Simon Brown scores his first for the club, the RWA bouncing around like kids on blue smarties. Yate briefly rallied with a goal of their own. I can’t recall the goal scorer, but frankly who cares! Two minutes later, Brown SPANKS one through Yate’s butter fingered keeper to make it 3-1. “You’re not very good! You’re not very good!” cry the RWA. Veni vidi vici, we came we saw we conquered, next up is Paulton Rovers at fortress Tatnam on Tuesday night…. Bring it on!!
