FRIDAY 7th September

Cambion/Eden In Vain/Kill The Conversation (Finns, Westham Road, Weymouth DT4 8NU): Exeter’s experimental rock combo Cambion are joined by ambient/hardcore/metallers Eden in Vain and Dorchester’s own Kill The Conversation in this latest Hourglass Promotion extravaganza.

AC/Beebies (Black Dog, St Mary Street, WeymouthDT4 8PB): Rumours of this band’s demise have clearly been greatly exaggerated.

Slipped Disc (Golden Lion, St Edmund Street, Weymouth DT4 8AR): Deep Purple to Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top to Bad Company.

Talon (The Barn at the Square and Compass, Windmill Hill, Nr Ilminster, Somerset TA19 9NX): Not merely a tribute to The Eagles, Talon also nod caps to James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, John Denver and the like. SATURDAY 8th September

C Sharp Blues (Royal Exchange, Weston, Portland DT5 2BZ): Original funky blues and celebrations of the works of Albert King, Jimi Hendrix, Steve Miller and more, plus Mike’s tribute to the pointy bit on the Southern end of Portland.

Fluke (Finns, Westham Road, Weymouth DT4 8NU): The Police, Peter Gabriel, Genesis and more.

Thou Shalt Sexy (Lazy Lizard, Esplanade, Weymouth DT4 8DG): This will be the band’s only gig of 2012. Here’s a message from TSS HQ: “The best looking and third best sounding band in Dorset are back to make sweet music love to your ears. So dust off your dancing shoes and run your contraceptive of choice under the tap as the fertility of funk, the sexual appetite of soul and unrepentant lust of rock and roll penetrate your senses.” Music from 11pm.

Danny & The Goosemen (Apple Tree, Trinity Street, Dorchester DT1 1TT):Expect the best banter, a high energy show and the band’s take on songs by artists such as CCR, Kings of Leon, Killers, Supertramp, and the like.

Tripod (Clifton Hotel, Grove Road, Portland DT5 1DA): Mark Davis and his power-rock trio promise new tunes tonight. Music from 9pm.

Offcentre (Route 35 at the Old Ship, High West Street, Dorchester DT1 1UW): Left, Right & Centre morph into Offcentre. American-style food with 50s and 60s music.

Jo Harman & Company (The Exchange, Old Market Hill, Sturmister Newton DT10 1QU): Since leaving a lucrative production deal with a Grammy Winning producer, Jo Harman has achieved a lot in the 18 months since she first stepped out to do her own thing, making music she loves, under her own terms. International press acclaim, numerous festival appearances, 3 separate BBC introducing sessions, opening for various legends, including touring with Average White Band, and selling out some of London’s most prestigious venues, have only added to Jo’s growing reputation as a blues, soul and gospel influenced singer of exceptional promise.

With a world class band in tow (with CV’s to prove it..Bob Dylan, Jessie J and more included), and an increasing impressive gig and festival roster, 2012 looks set to be an exciting time for this young singer who is currently recording tracks with an award winning producer with a view to releasing debut studio product later this year. King Tut’s Revenge (Ropemakers, West Street, Bridport DT6 3QP): ska/punk band from Somerset formed back in 2005. Previously prime members Sketch and Screener had an 8 piece ska band called “The Fluf” in which they played many gigs including supporting Bad Manners but eventually they wanted to move in a different direction to the rest of the band and KTR was born. K2 (Crown Inn, West Bay Road, Bridport DT6 4AX):Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses, Hendrix, Queen, Alice Cooper, Bryan Adams, Green Day, Lynyrd Skynyrd and more from “Devon’s premier classic rock covers band”.

Sgt Pepper’s Only Dart Board Band (Mr Kyps, Parr Street, Ashley Cross, Lower Parkstone, Poole BH14 0JY): One of the country’s longest-serving tribute bands perform the works of the Beatles in full regalia and with authentic instruments and amps. The Crack (Golden Lion, St Edmund Street, Weymouth DT4 8AR): Music from 10pm.

The Sailor’s Jam Session (Sailor’s Return, Nicholas Street, Weymouth DT4 8AD): Mark Stacey is your host. Music from 8pm.

Darren H (Edinburgh House of Sounds, St Thomas Street, Weymouth DT4 8EW): Music from 8pm.

Acoustic Afternoon (Queen’s Hotel, King Street, Weymouth DT4 7BJ): A mellow acoustic session here every Sunday from 4pm to 8pm, with PA provided.

Whitetop Mountain Band/Stompin’ Dave Allen (Marine Theatre, Church Street, Lyme Regis DT7 3QA): The Whitetop Mountain Band is a family-based band from the highest mountains of Virginia. Whitetop, Virginia is an area rich in the old time music tradition, and the members of this band have done much to preserve the Whitetop region’s style of old-time fiddling and banjo picking and are legendary musicians and teachers of the style. Skimmity Hitchers (Ropemakers, West Street, Bridport DT6 3QP): It’s Hat Festival in time Bridport! This band of brothers, blaggers and badgers (their words!), loaded up the Skimmity wagon in the spring of 2010 and took to the road.
