FRIDAY 26th October

The Wedding Present (O2 Academy, 570 Christchurch Road, Bournemouth BH1 4BH): Congratulations to the good folk at Dorset Eye, who have pulled off a coup by getting an exclusive interview with the band. Surfin’ Birds (Sun Inn, King Street, Weymouth DT4 7BH): Here’s a treat – two sessions from the Birds in their home town. Soaking in the Sun from 9.30pm…

Amy Mayes Band (Golden Lion, St Edmund Street, Weymouth DT4 8AR): Soulful funk from Amy and her ace band.

Reactor (Finns, Westham Road, Weymouth DT4 8NU): Songs from Killers, Stereophonics, KOL, Arctic Monkeys and more.

Vanilla Radio (Royal Exchange, Weston, Portland DT5 2BZ).Toyah Willcox (Electric Palace, South Street, Bridport DT6 3NY):The Changeling Resurrection Tour revisits Toyah’s early works and more. Tickets are £18.50 plus booking fee standing or £20 plus b.f. seated. Doors open 7.30pm.

Biproxy (Finns, Westham Road, Weymouth DT4 8NU): Contemporary rock covers.

Martin Johnson Band (Royal Portland Arms, Fortuneswell, Portland DT5 1LZ): Vintage rock’n’roll and blues from Martin and band. You may recognise the bass player.

Pete Christie/Glowbones (Cellar Bar, Christchurch Road, Boscombe BH1 4AG): This month’s UK Roots Movement event features accomplished Swanage troubadour Pete Christie and Bristol-based duo Glowbones, the band formerly known as The Absolute Darlings. Free entry before 11pm, £2 thereafter.
The Sidekicks (Ropemakers, West Street, Bridport DT6 3QP): Al Green, Van Morrison, Ian Dury, Toots and the Maytals, rock’n’roll, reggae… what more do you want?

AC/Beebies/Left, Right and Centre/Mama Feelgood/Til There Was Uke/Chris Taylor/Mama Smokes/Slipped Disc/The Skull Kids/Skint Imperials/Tripod Golden Lion, St Edmund Street, Weymouth DT4 8AR): This is Weymouth’s Oxjam event, where all these bands donate their services for free in order to raise funds for Oxfam. Custer’s Last Blues Band/RPM/C Sharp Blues (Electric Palace, South Street, Bridport DT6 3NY):  This is EDP’s second Blues at the Palace event, where funds are raised for the Dorset/Devon-based drugs and alcohol charity.
