The district and borough councils have teamed up with Dorset Growth Hub and local chambers of commerce to launch Finance Fridays for local businesses.

Finance Fridays are free, confidential one-to-one appointments with a business finance specialist. Advice and expertise on all areas of business finance will be available with experts keen to help local businesses expand and grow.

The sessions will be running every three weeks in either Bridport, Dorchester or Weymouth and are by appointment only – booked through Dorset Growth Hub.

The one-to-one sessions are provided by a specialist team from Dorset Growth Hub, alongside support from local chambers of commerce, West Dorset District Council and Weymouth & Portland Borough Council.

Nick Gregory, Dorset Growth Hub Investment Specialist, said: “We are available to discuss anything (confidentially and free of charge), from start-up ideas to cash flow/investment advice for larger SMEs. If we cannot help directly then we are able to signpost a business in the right direction”

Cllr Anthony Alford, Leader of West Dorset District Council, said “We want to help local businesses to thrive and grow. Providing them with sound financial advice could lay the foundation for a successful future.”

Mike Byatt, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s Economic Development Briefholder, said: “Helping support the growth of the local economy is a key priority for the borough council.

“Supplying businesses with important knowledge in key areas, such as finance, could be the key ingredient for a more efficient business”
