Dorset Police will open recruitment for new Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) from midday on Wednesday 17 February 2016.
The Force intends to recruit PCSOs to work across the county, with an intake of 16 starting in June 2016 and a further 16 to follow in 2017.
PCSOs form an integral part of Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) across the Force and work in close partnership with local authorities and community groups to ensure that local issues are addressed effectively.
Chief Constable Debbie Simpson said: “PCSOs have a highly visible presence in the neighbourhoods they serve, patrolling and engaging with the public on a daily basis.
“They play a critical role in the identification of vulnerable people within our communities and work in partnership with others to make them safe.
“Community policing is a vital aspect of what we do, and I am excited to offer the opportunity for people to join Dorset Police in such a rewarding career.”
Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner, Martyn Underhill said: “Our PCSOs are the bridge between communities and policing, they really close the gap with the public.
“I am constantly told that they make people feel safer in their homes and within their communities. Their role is vital in helping the partnership approach to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour across Dorset.”
Information is available on the Force website for anyone interested in becoming a PCSO.
Recruitment for the role will be open from midday on Wednesday 17 February until midday on Wednesday 9 March.
