FREE Anti-Fracking Documentary: The Truth Behind the Dash For Gas
Saturday 20th February 6:30–9:00
Woodmead Halls, Hill Road, Lyme Regis.

Frack Free Lyme Regis and Knit for the Planet would be delighted if you could attend a FREE film screening of a powerful anti-fracking documentary, The Truth Behind the Dash for Gas, by Marco Jackson.

The film examines the potential impacts of fracking and coal bed methane extraction in Somerset and beyond. It includes the social, health and environmental consequences associated with unconventional gas drilling.

A large swathe of Somerset is licensed for oil and gas extraction – including around Hinkley Point Nuclear Plant – and this film sets the scene for community awareness so we can defend our landscape; if fracking happens in Somerset, or another neighbouring county, we are very likely to feel the impact here in Dorset.

As well as the screening, you will also be able to question our Q&A panel afterwards – we’re delighted that Elizabeth J Walker, author of the sustainable living title, The Resilience Handbook, will be there, as will Tim Eggins, creator of Earth Hour Chard.
Additionally, some of us will be knitting/crocheting 12 inch/30cms yellow squares for a forthcoming Knit for the Planet event. Please bring your own wool and needles; absolutely any shade of yellow will be just fine! Have a peek at our quirky little film that explains what we hope to do with them all, as soon as we have enough squares https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITDCjPW5mek

The doors of Woodmead Halls will be open from 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
In case you aren’t familiar with the venue, it’s the spacious community building on Hill Road in Lyme Regis, covered rather magnificently in solar panels!

I realise it’s close to tea time, but don’t you worry, hot and cold organic Fairtrade refreshments will be available, as will delicious organic savoury nibbles and mouthwatering cakes from Helen Roberts of The Flour Pot in Chard.
If you have any questions about the event or the little yellow squares we are trying to amass, please drop us a line!
