The decline in faith in the UK police has been both gradual and dramatic. It has been occurring for well over a decade, probably a lot closer to two, but since their numbers were slashed and politicians made out that less was best, the public have become wizened to the fact that only crime classified as ‘serious’ is now prioritised.

Observing comments on social media over the last few years has been depressing. Hardly anyone has anything good to say about those who are meant to be protecting… us.

A report out today merely confirms this. As is clearly identified by multiple media outlets the public are now experiencing a post code lottery in which crimes in some places are treated more seriously than others.  There is little joined up thinking and people are now just not bothering to report many crimes.

With communities collapsing and many people feeling crushed by their every day experiences the police are being seen more and more as remote and not bothered.

Therefore what are we to do? The government lie to us and the police are under great strain. We are dissatisfied and have lost faith.

What next?
