Brilliant. This has been my take on this debate from day one. Where it is required for medical reasons make it entirely legal and available via the NHS or a local pharmacy on proof of condition.

Where it is recreational decriminalise its usage and licence it for production and sales.

Do not make the same mistake and legalise entirely as with many pharmaceuticals, tobacco and alcohol but take away the stigma of criminalisation and the resources required to prosecute and transfer them all in to helping and supporting those who require it.

As a GP or a teacher or a parent… I would want people to be able to get the care required without having to worry about the criminal justice system but at the same point I would want them to remember that there are other ways to cope with or change our reality other than getting stoned….

Almost every social occasion appears to require alcohol. Are others really that intimidating that we must all get pissed? Is life really that rubbish that we must gulp down poison and talk gibberish? There are other ways to relax and interact. However, by legalising alcohol we are legitimating the drink…

Those who supply without licenses should still be prosecuted for our own sakes as with alcohol, tobacco and other drugs but those who provide a ‘safe’ source should be allowed to do so as long as they are directly accountable.

Good on Mr Corbyn. An extremely sensible response to an issue that requires serious attention sooner rather than later. Good man.
