The popular ‘It’s Got To Be Bournemouth’ Pride Lion, currently located in the Sovereign Shopping Centre in Boscombe, has been invited to The Red Ball, the inaugural fundraising event for the Jon Egging Trust. The ball coincides with the Bournemouth Air Festival 2012 and is taking place on Friday 31 August at the Bournemouth International Centre.

The ‘It’s Got To Be Bournemouth’ Pride Lion has been a permanent fixture in the Sovereign Shopping Centre since 2011. As part of the Centre’s ongoing support of the Air Festival, as well as selecting the Jon Egging Trust as its chosen charity to fundraise for, it was decided the Lion would be auctioned off at the 2013 Red Ball to raise further funds for the Trust.

The Sovereign Shopping Centre’s Manager, Ray McGlynn, and Office Manager, Joan Neale, will be accompanying the ‘It’s Got To Be Bournemouth’ Pride Lion to the ball, as it prepares to be auctioned off at the 2013 event. The money raised from the auction will go to the Jon Egging Trust in memory of Flt Lt Jon Egging, who tragically lost his life while completing a display at the Bournemouth Air Festival last year.

Ray McGlynn, the Sovereign Shopping Centre Manager, said: “We are very pleased to be supporting the inaugural Red Ball, in association with the Bournemouth Air Festival. We feel very privileged to be accompanying the ‘It’s Got To Be Bournemouth’ Pride Lion and hope that next year’s auction raises a significant amount of money for the Jon Egging Trust. The work the charity undertakes is fantastic and truly makes a difference to the lives of many young people.”

In the lead up to the Air Festival, the Sovereign Shopping Centre will also be hosting Terry Trevett from the Bournemouth Red Arrows Association in the Shopping Centre on Saturday 25 August from10am. Terry will be raising funds for the Jon Egging Trust throughout the day.

The Red Ball 2012 will be hosted by TV presenter Carol Vorderman and will showcase an evening of entertainment, champagne reception and a three course dinner.
