Man Charged Following Serious Driving Incident Near Dorchester

A motorist who reportedly made off from officers and drove dangerously before being stopped by police has been charged with driving offences.

It was reported at 9.52am on Sunday 22 June 2025 that a vehicle, suspected of being on cloned plates, had failed to stop for officers on the A35 near Tolpuddle.

Pursuit trained officers reportedly followed the vehicle as it travelled along the A31 to the Ferndown area, where it was stopped following a tactical manoeuvre by police in Autumn Close.

During the incident, the vehicle that had failed to stop was reportedly travelling at speeds of up to around 100mph in a 40mph area and overtaking other vehicles in a dangerous manner.

A 27-year-old man from Chard in Somerset has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop when required by police, using a motor vehicle without valid insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and fraudulently using a registration mark or document. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 23 June 2025.
