Man In Serious Condition Following Incident In Weymouth Town Centre

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following two reported assaults in Weymouth.

At around 11.30pm on Saturday 21 June 2025 it is reported a man was punched in the face by another man outside The Black Dog in St Mary Street.

The victim walked off in the direction of the Esplanade, where it is further reported he was kicked in the stomach by a second man.

He was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening or life-changing.

Following enquiries, a 58-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm. He has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Tom Pocock, of Weymouth police, said: “We are carrying out a detailed investigation into these two reported assaults, which we believe were witnessed by a number of members of the public who were present.

“I would urge anyone who saw either incident, or who has any information that might assist our enquiries, to please get in touch.”
