Officers are appealing for any witnesses to come forward following a serious injury collision in Ferndown.

At 4.44pm on Friday 23 April 2021 a road traffic collision occurred on the A347 New Road, near to the fire station, involving a red and white Yamaha motorcycle and a white Vivaro panel van.

The motorcyclist – a man aged in his 20s and from Swindon in Wiltshire – sustained potentially life-changing injuries and was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the van, a local man aged in his 20s, was uninjured.

New Road was partially blocked as a result of the collision. It was fully reopened at 7.35pm.

Police Sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or captured anything relevant on dashcam, and has not yet spoken to officers to please contact Dorset Police.

“The collision caused congestion in the area and I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while we responded to the incident and paramedics treated the injured man at the scene.”
