More than 80 guests and dignitaries people were welcomed to the official launch of La Vie Spa at The Ocean Hotel, Southwell Park, Portland, on Wednesday 21st October by The Worshipful Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, Councillor Christine James. Guests were treated to a drinks reception in the spa, ribbon cutting ceremony and welcome speech by the Mayor. Guests then serenaded the Mayor with Happy Birthday and presented her with a flaming birthday cake to help her celebrate her birthday. This was followed by canapés in The Ocean Hotel panoramic restaurant overlooking the hotels unique cliff top position. Verna Herry, Managing Director of La Vie Spa also used the occasion to announce La Vie Spa’s working partnership with Weldmar Hospicecare Trust with the help of Jonathan Panton Business Fundraising Manager for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust. Three lucky winners on the night: Ken Ireland, Caroline Gill & Sally Cheney all won treatments at La Vie Spa in the raffle to raise funds for Weldmar. Finally guests were presented with Elemis goodie bags one of the UK’s top Anti-Ageing skincare brands

Verna Herry says “I was overwhelmed by the amount of people who came tonight to show their support of my new venture, welcome me back and to wish me well. I was genuinely touched by everyone’s kindness and good wishes”

Business Fundraising Manager for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust Jonathan Panton said “I was very pleased to be invited to the official opening of the La Vie Spa at The Ocean Hotel, Portland, opened officially by The Mayor. The evening was a ringing success with invited guests shown all the facilities available, whilst being assured the professional Spa staff know exactly how to treat you with the utmost care and attention” Verna Haywood (owner) has adopted Weldmar Hospicecare Trust as her charity and for that we are very grateful.

Verna Herry continues “I wanted to work with a local charity that was close to my heart, sadly, I like many others have had my family touched by cancer. By working with Weldmar Hospicecare Trust La Vie Spa can help Weldmar do even more good work with the monies we help raise”

Weldmar Hospicecare Trust is an independent charity working in Dorset. All their services are provided free of charge. 75% of the funds are raised locally; the rest is given by the NHS. They are the only agency providing specialist palliative care in north, south and west Dorset.
