Although just celebrating its first birthday, Cliff House Hotel in Southbourne has certainly put itself on the map. The fourteen bedroom boutique hotel has attracted great reviews not just for its elegantly designed interiors, but for its relaxing setting, great cocktails and gourmet food.
Described as a ‘hidden gem’ the hotel has become a focal point for many local events and occasions including the launch party of the popular Shake and Stir Vintage Festival, and the Bournemouth Chamber of Trade Cocktail Club.
Cliff House Hotel has also seen significant growth in events bookings, with a large number of weddings and private functions in the diary, which has led to the decision to expand its kitchen brigade.
The newest member to join the team is Chef de Partie James McConnell who has joined Head Chef Alex King, appointed through hospitality recruitment specialists, Real Recruitment Solutions.
General Manager Tim Seward said, “We have worked with the Real Recruitment Team before to help source professional staff for our hotel. Our first year in business has exceeded our expectations, and for us it is all about having the right people in place to help us move forward.”
Chef James, who trained locally has previous experience in a number of local eateries, including the Boathouse, The Ox, The Ship and The Grand Hotel. He is particularly passionate about continuing the philosophy of using seasonal and local produce and creating exciting dishes with a twist.
Hospitality account manager at Real Recruitment Solutions, Stephanie Davey added, “We have been working with Tim and the team at Cliff House at all stages of the business, from set up, to this point, celebrating their first successful year. Hoteliers tell us they are finding it harder to recruit direct which is why they are working with us as specialists in the hospitality sector. Good luck to all at Cliff House Hotel in year two!”
