Back to school for pupils at Highcliffe School has been a return to sparkling school premises with the appointment of a new contract cleaning company.

Two Counties Cleaning Services based in Lymington is a commercial cleaning company specialising in cleaning and facilities management, with education and medical being two of its biggest sectors. Taking over the contract in August gave the Two Counties Cleaning team the opportunity to access the school premises for thorough deep cleaning over the holiday period prior to pupils and staff returning for a new term.

Simon Fuller, Director of Business and Finance at Highcliffe School was responsible for securing the new contract and is already delighted with the impact, commenting; “As the new academic year begins we have seen a noticeable difference in the cleanliness standards, with staff making comment to that effect. Hygiene and cleanliness in school is of course of paramount importance, but we must also balance that with competitive costs, and Two Counties Cleaning has already met both.”

One of the county’s largest secondary schools, Highcliffe School has around 1400 pupils aged 11 – 18 including a thriving sixth form based on its campus in Highcliffe. Two Counties Cleaning has taken over responsibility for cleaning all classroom and municipal areas.

Matthew Turl, Business Development Director at Two Counties Cleaning Services added, “As a new contract we are really pleased with the feedback received straight away. We had our teams operational over the summer holiday so that everything was ship shape for the new term. The success of our business is that we apply stringent cleaning protocols into schools, equal to those applicable with our medical cleaning. This not only improves general cleanliness, but has a positive impact on infection control.”

As part of the contract, Two Counties Cleaning took over twelve existing cleaning staff under the TUPE process and re-trained them to their rigorous cleaning systems. Matthew went on to say, “Across Hampshire and Dorset we have cleaning contracts in over 100 schools, varying in size from small rural primary schools to large co-ed secondary schools, plus private schools and specialist schools catering for pupils with physical or learning disabilities. We totally understand the need to offer a reliable, flexible service within constrained school budgets, and do our very best to help our education clients maintain or improve cleaning standards.”

Highcliffe School has an Open Evening on Thursday 5 October (5.30- 8pm) for learners entering Year 7 in 2018.
