There are lots of reasons to be cheerful as Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts unveils its new season of top comedy for the autumn.

Police sergeant turned stand up comedian, Alfie Moore brings his arresting new show to town on 17 October. The Naked Stun is based on the true story of his dogged determination to track down a serial flasher and other anecdotes drawn from 18 years as an “institutionally sarcastic” crime fighter in Scunthorpe. Fast-paced, packed with twists and turns, the show reveals the seamier side of crime investigation and exposes the gulf between US cop dramas and reality of policing in the UK as it builds to an unexpectedly dramatic, taser-wielding climax.

The multi-faceted Hardeep Singh Kohli returns to Lighthous on 24 October with his latest show, Big Mouth Strikes Again. The BAFTA-winning comedian, broadcaster, journalist and chef muses on why things happen as they do for him – “When you’ve got a mouth this big, is it any wonder you get into trouble?” he asks.

In Dave Gorman Gets Straight To The Point* (*The PowerPoint) on 28 October, the innovative comedy mind behind Modern Life Is Goodish (Dave TV), Are You Dave Gorman? and Googlewhack Adventure is back with a brand new show. Amazingly, it is actually a PowerPoint presentation.

With four sell out national tours, three DVD releases and a special for Comedy Central under his belt, Andy Parsons brings his fifth stand up show Live And Unleashed – But Naturally Cautious to Lighthouse on 18 November. The star of BBC2’s Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo enjoys an enviable reputation for his sharp observations and pithy, perceptive pot shots at politicians and personalities alike.
