Weymouth BID has completed its first 100 days and the Chair was pleased to announce at the December board meeting that all the targets within the first 100 days had been successfully completed.

Barrie Huett Chair of the BID had indicated previously to the Board meeting that he intended to stand down and felt this was an opportune time to do so.   Mr Huett said “ I have been involved with the BID since its first meeting in October 2011 and have really appreciated the support my employers Albert Goodman have given me and the BID to reach this stage. I took over as Chair in June 2013 following the Yes vote and feel that with the completion of 100 day plan it is a good time for me to stand down and let others lead the BID into this new stage.”

The First Hundred Days project included, election of new board members, appointment of a BID manager, a BID office, appointment of an events tender company and a marketing tender agreed.

In addition the BID has run two successful seasonal events Halloween and with the events tender company RDA, the revival of Victorian Shownight.

Alison Theobald of Pennywise and Alistair Clarke of Dean & Reddyoff Marina were voted in as joint chairs of the BID at the meeting.

Alison said “I am pleased to take on the position of joint Chair with Alistair and I look forward to working with my colleagues on the board who are responsible for delivering the BID business plan.”

Alistair Clarke from Dean & Reddyhoff Marinas added “The proposal to have joint Chairs was agreed by the Board who recognised the workload involved I look forward to working with Alison to support the BID. I would like to thank Barrie and Albert Goodman for their support.”

In another change to the board Cherise Luke-Bennett of Battens has stood down as Vice Chair, due to work commitments, although will continue on the board. The new vice chair is Steve Newstead of Wetherspoons.   Nigel Reed BID Manager said “My personal thanks go to Barrie for all his support and the changes to a joint chair is a good decision as the BID moves forward into 2014.”

The BID will be inviting levy payers to meetings in January 2014 at Weymouth Pavilion to present the plans for 2014 and to provide the opportunity for feedback from levy payers to the Board.
