Opportunity for local teens to take a positive leap towards their future

Teenagers across Bournemouth & Poole have the chance to experience what a career in the Outdoor Industry could be like this Easter.

Local outdoor education provider, Land & Wave, is hosting the free event to show students how training in outdoor adventure can lead to fantastic careers with great prospects.

School leavers and their parents are invited to spend the day learning from professional outdoor instructors and finding out how a BTEC Level 3 in Outdoor Adventure can lead on to varied careers in Public Services, Teaching and Management.

The BTEC Level 3 in Outdoor Adventure is equivalent to three A-Levels and combines classroom theory with hands-on outdoor training. Land & Wave runs the course in partnership with the new multi-million pound sixth form at The Bourne Academy.

Course leader, David Mutton said: “Dorset’s outdoor industry is booming and the career opportunities are vast. Our open day is the perfect chance for students and parents to learn about all the different avenues open to them.”

The free student & parent event includes a coasteering session on the Jurassic Coast as well as a Q&A session with outdoor professionals such as instructors, centre managers and freelancers, who will impart first-hand knowledge about how to get ahead in the thriving industry.

The Easter Holiday open-day takes place on Wednesday 16thApril, 10.00 – 15.00. Attendees need to meet at Upton House, Poole.
