Officers are issuing a further appeal for information as they continue efforts to locate missing Wareham man Steven Clarke.

Steven, aged 54, has been missing since Thursday 26 January 2023, with the last known sighting of him in Bells Orchard Lane at around 11.20am.

He is described as five feet ten inches tall, of slim build and with brown unkempt hair. Steven often uses a gold-coloured walking stick.

Chief Superintendent Richard Bell, of Dorset Police, said: “We have deployed significant resources into searching large parts of Wareham and the surrounding area over recent days, with more than 400 properties visited during house-to-house enquiries and extensive CCTV enquiries conducted. However, at this time we still have not had any further confirmed sightings after Thursday 26 January 2023.

“Unfortunately, Mr Clarke has a number of health conditions that require regular medication that we believe he may not have access to. As it has now been nearly two weeks since he was last seen, we are very concerned for his welfare and fear that he may have come to harm.

“I would like to thank all those who have provided information in response to our appeals, and I would also like to thank all the partner agencies and voluntary agencies that have supported the tireless search efforts by officers. These have included Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue, HM Coastguard, Dorset Search and Rescue, Wiltshire and Hampshire Search and Rescue, Wessex Water Rescue and Wessex 4×4.

“I would also like to thank Steven’s family for the support they have given to our investigation.

“While the public may see a reduction in the visible search activity over the coming days, I want to reassure them that our efforts to locate Steven are ongoing and we will continue to explore any lines of enquiries that emerge as well as use specialist search assets where appropriate.

“I would again urge members of the public with any information, no matter how small, that they feel may assist our investigation to please come forward.

“I would also like to repeat our appeal for any motorists who were in the Wareham area on Thursday 26 January 2023 to please review any dashcam footage for potential sightings of Steven.”

Anyone with information or knowledge as to Steven’s whereabouts is asked to contact Dorset Police at [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting occurrence 55230014390.
