Officers are appealing for the public’s help to find a teenage boy who has gone missing from Christchurch.

Shaye Hughes, 14, went missing from his home in River Way at around 10.30am today, Monday 16 April 2018. He does not have a mobile phone with him and is said to have been in an unsettled state.

He is described as white, five feet four inches tall, of medium build and with mousy-coloured short hair. He was wearing a yellow T-shirt with a smiley face emoji on the front, a blue Superdry jacket with a red zip, dark grey camouflage trousers, a black baseball cap with green writing on the front and light grey trainers with white soles. He was carrying a small black messenger bag, which is worn across the chest.

Officers have been searching the Christchurch area but Shaye has not been located.

Chief Inspector Steve White, of Dorset Police, said: “Shaye has learning disabilities and sadly has been unsettled recently. We are very concerned for him and I would urge members of the public who have seen Shaye, or a boy matching the description given, to please contact us.

“Shaye left with some money so it is possible he has been able to pay for food and travel.

“I would ask residents to also check their gardens and outbuildings in the event Shaye may have decided to take refuge.

“Finally, if Shaye sees this appeal I would ask him to please contact us. We are all very worried about you and just want to know you are OK.”

Anyone with information or knowledge as to Shaye’s whereabouts is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting incident number 16:147.
