Another one gone. And another. And another.
Six months after Reform’s “shock” local election wins, the cracks are no longer cracks—they’re craters. PoliticsHome has done the homework…
It’s ugly. And it confirms exactly what we’ve been saying for months. ![]()
Their investigation found that Reform has already lost 36 councillors since May – suspended, expelled, defected, or simply quit. That’s nearly 4% of all the councillors they elected, gone in just half a year.
The analysis also revealed the truth behind the slogans. Reform promised “massive savings” and “efficiency drives” – but every council they run is struggling just to keep the lights on. Most are now spending up to 78% of their budgets on social care and homelessness.
Even Reform’s own council leaders have quietly admitted that council tax rises are unavoidable next year. The fantasy of “cutting waste” lasted about as long as their councillors did.
Experts told PoliticsHome the problem was simple: Reform had no idea what they were doing. They rushed candidates into elections without proper vetting or training. Local government requires experience and planning, not slogans and selfies.
The result? Councils in chaos.
Cornwall councillors breaking away because the national party ignores local residents.
Kent councillors expelled after a public bust-up caught on camera.
Worcester losing seats to the Lib Dems after Reform resignations.
Want competent local government?
Then Reform are not your friends…
