Detectives investigating reports of a serious assault in Wimborne are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

At around 12.45am on Friday 3 June 2022 it is reported that an altercation and serious assault occurred in The Square, near to Aroma Café and the Kings Head Hotel, involving three members of door staff and two members of public.

It is alleged that a man and woman were kicked and punched to the ground during the incident and a second man sustained a cut to his head.

A 36-year-old man from North Dorset was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and a 30-year-old woman from Cardiff was arrested on suspicion of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause fear of violence and assault by beating. They have both been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Charlie Soutine, of Dorset County CID, said: “An investigation into this violent incident is underway and I am keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to officers.

“I know that there were some motorists and taxi drivers in the area at the time, and I would ask them to please review their dashcam footage and get in touch if they find anything that may assist my enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55220088094.
