Officers are appealing for anyone with information and a male witness to come forward who was involved in a verbal altercation in Weymouth.
During the early hours of Sunday 31 May 2026, it is reported that a woman aged in her 20s was assaulted with a glass bottle by a man who is known to her at an address in the town.
The victim sustained injuries that are not believed to be serious.
A 22-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing wounding with intent, making threats to kill, and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour. He remains in police custody at this time.
Following enquiries, it was established that the arrested man and victim were believed to be involved in an altercation at the Esso garage in King Street at around 11.40pm on Saturday, 30 May 2026.
Detective Constable Holly Hetherington, of Dorset County CID, said: “We understand a man wearing a white T-shirt with a beard spoke to the victim at the Esso garage. We would ask him to please come forward as a witness, as we believe he may have vital information to help our investigation.
“I am also appealing to anyone who was in the garage at the time and may have seen what happened to please get in touch.”
