St Jude’s Care of Weymouth recently celebrated eight years in business by hosting a Cupcake Day for the Alzheimer’s Society on Thursday 27th June at their head office at Stavordale Road Weymouth. Clients, carers and members of the public were invited to sample delicious cakes and raise funds by entering a raffle, guessing the Teddy’s name and guessing the number of sweets in a jar, they raised £225.00.

Ben Andrews, Managing Director of St Jude’s Care said “We are very happy to celebrate 8 years with the whole team, whilst raising funds for a very worthwhile charity. We chose to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society because it is a charity close to the heart of St Jude’s.

St Jude’s Care of Weymouth, continue to grow from strength to strength by increasing their workforce, expanding services and investing in new equipment and vehicles. On Father’s Day in June, St Jude’s Catering set up a pop up kitchen in Brewery Square in Dorchester offering sample dishes from their “Meals on Wheels” service to local Dads and Grandads who were celebrating the day in Dorchester. St Jude’s Catering offer a daily hot meal service in Portland, Weymouth and Dorchester, where meals are delivered hot on a china plate, seven days a week. It is understood that St Jude’s Catering are now the only company offering a hot food delivery service in the area.

Ben Andrews went on to say “We have been offering hot food delivery now for 18 months in the local area. Some clients have one meal a week and some choose to have two meals a day from our comprehensive menu. The service is growing on a weekly basis and soon we plan to extend our geographical area.”

During the celebrations St Judes Care also awarded some of its team of carers special awards in recognition of their contribution to outstanding care. St Jude’s Care offer a range of services from 24 hour live-in care to companionship and reassurance as well as offering support when patients are discharged from hospital or simply want a little help with domestic tasks, a freshly prepared meal via the meals on wheels service, or shopping.
