“STARMER IS TRYING TO PROTECT HIMSELF FROM PROSECUTION”

POLICE CRACKDOWN ON PALESTINE PROTESTERS IS STATE CENSORSHIP  SAYS FILMMAKER

The police crackdown on pro-Palestine protesters marks a new phase in escalating state censorship, the producer of a new film has claimed.

Norman Thomas, producer of “Censoring Palestine,” which is being premiered in London on Wednesday, said, “We are seeing the biggest attack on the freedom to protest in living memory.”

His comments follow Saturday’s national pro-Palestine demo, in which police blocked protesters from demonstrating outside the BBC and made 77 arrests.

Mr. Thomas said: “The police claimed this was to do with protecting a synogue, but their real intentions were obvious—to deter any challenge to the state broadcaster, the BBC, and to do this in as harsh a way as possible designed to intimidate people from doing it again.”

Mr. Thomas believes the police were acting on direction from the government.

He said, “Keir Starmer is really showing his true authoritarian colours. He is criminalising dissent and at the same time trying to enforce institutional censorship, which means the state broadcaster must not be challenged.”

“The BBC bosses have taken the lead in trying to hide the genocide going on in Gaza and have totally airbrushed out of all its coverage the growing evidence of Britain’s direct involvement in that genocide. Keir Starmer is taking all measures to protect their position.”

Keir Starmer’s ultimate aim, Mr. Thomas argues, is to protect himself and other ministers from being tried in an international court as war criminals.

“The idea that the British prime minister and other ministers may find themselves charged with war crimes is sensational, and the British establishment will do all in its power to ensure that neither the BBC nor any of our mainstream media give this possibility any airtime whatsoever.”

“Censoring Palestine” will be screened in the Genesis Cinema in London on Wednesday, 22 January at 6.40pm. The screening will be followed by an open discussion with Alexei Sayle, Stop The War Convenor, Lindsey German, and the mothers of three imprisoned pro-Palestine activists. Chris Nineham, the chief steward of Saturday’s protest who was violently arrested by the police, has also been invited to take part.

The film is the latest production from Platform Films who in 2023 made “Oh, Jeremy Corbyn – The Big Lie” . was axed by Glastonbury Fesival after an online campaign by the pro-Israel lobby.
