Superior, a leading manufacturer based in Dorset, is offering bursary funds worth up to £1,500 to support disadvantaged young people aged 16-21 on STEM courses (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
In partnership with Dorset Community Foundation, the STEM bursary fund is open to anyone within the specified age range who is looking to study a STEM course at Bournemouth and Poole College or Brockenhurst College. Applicants must live in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne or surrounding areas.
The corporate fund set up by Superior is intended to assist and support individuals and ensure they are able to attend further education, as well as assisting those who are particularly disadvantaged.
Grants can only be used to support educational or training needs and contributes to course fees, travel costs, any special clothing or equipment required, books, IT hardware and software.
Applications for the STEM Bursary Fund close on Friday October 6. This is the third year in a row that Superior has offered its Bursary Fund. Students keen to apply can find the application form online www.dorsetcommunityfoundation.org

Many local young people from disadvantaged backgrounds cannot afford the cost of travel or special equipment which prevents them from reaching their full potential.”
A student who has previously received the Superior STEM Bursary, said: “The bursary has taken a massive weight off my shoulders – before I was worrying about my attendance because I could not afford getting to college and back. It has also enabled me to focus more on studying and getting the grades I need.”
