Talbot Village Trust has donated more than £6,000 to the local charity Home-Start South East Dorset to transform their premises.

The grant giving charity made the donation to Home-Start to refurbish its facilities so that the property could become a safe and secure place for small children. Home-Start is a local organisation which offers free support to families with children under the age of five. In particular the charity offers a helping hand to isolated and bereaved parents.

Home-Start is visited by a number of families on a daily basis, and the recent investment in the facilities has meant that the space is able to be enjoyed by hundreds across the county.

Kathy Fryatt-Banks, senior organiser of Home-Start South East Dorset, said: “I can’t stress how important receiving this funding has been for us. The funding has created an ideal space for us to hold our family group sessions, as well as our other services which require our facilities to be suitable for the use of small children.

“Talbot Village Trust has allowed us to carry on operating to a high standard and for that we are so grateful for their help. Creating a non-judgemental environment where the whole family can enjoy quality time together is fundamental to what we do, and without the Trust’s grant we would have struggled to provide this for our community.”

Russell Lucas-Rowe, Trustee of Talbot Village Trust, added: “We are really proud to have been able to support Home-Start in this way. We believe that in the community it is important that everyone feels supported and receives the help that they require. Home-Start’s volunteers work really hard to reassure those in need that they are not alone and are there for advice and support.”

Talbot Village Trust meets biannually, and will be accepting applications for funding from both previous and new applicants in the area before the Trustees meet in the autumn of this year. Please go to www.talbotvillagetrust.org for more information.
