Great Oaks, a brand new residential, nursing and dementia specialist care home in Bournemouth, hosted an event to celebrate its grand opening.

More than 100 guests attended the event including The Mayor and Mayoress of Bournemouth, Cllr Lawrence Williams and Mrs Elaine Williams, who cut the ribbon to officially open Great Oaks. The Mayor and Mayoress of Bournemouth were joined by two residents of Great Oaks, Derek and Jack, along with Derek’s partner Vi, who all helped cut the ribbon. The day was made even more special as it was Jack’s birthday and everyone joined in to sing him Happy Birthday.

Guests were treated to delicious treats prepared by Great Oak’s team of professional chefs who created a culinary display of classic British favourites with a modern twist, prepared using only locally sourced ingredients including home-grown vegetables and herbs from the care home’s garden.

Live music was played by Spectrum String Quartet, which complemented the idyllic location of the care home, which is discreetly located within a private woodland setting on Poole Lane. The event also gave attendees the opportunity to have a tour of the purpose-built 80-bed care home and its state-of-the-art facilities; designed to enable staff to provide the highest standard of 24 hour, personalised care and ensure residents are comfortable and happy in their surroundings.

David Hines, chief executive of Encore Care Homes, said: ‘‘Our home is your home and we were honoured to be able to share it with everyone who attended the grand opening of Great Oaks. At Encore we believe it is so important to design, build and manage a care environment which allows our carers and residents to flourish. The design of the building enables us to be able to offer residential, nursing, dementia, palliative, respite and day care due to its ‘wing’ design.

‘‘We pride ourselves on having created a care provision which is suitable to all within the community. The rural setting of Great Oaks belies its convenient positioning within the heart of the town – as it is ideally located to serve the communities of both Bournemouth and Poole. We currently have 14 residents since opening in June and look forward to welcoming more over the coming months.’’

Great Oaks is the latest addition of an established family of care homes managed by Encore Care Homes. Encore also manages two other care homes in Dorset and Hampshire. At the heart of its care culture, Encore is committed to providing respect, dignity and wellbeing to all residents. As a reputable employer, only the kindest and most qualified healthcare professionals are employed. Regular in-depth training and development programmes are also provided to all staff.
