Are people actually concerned about the amount of house building being pushed through in Weymouth and Portland, compared to the loss of infrastructure, i.e. road projects, hospital services and school privatisation (pruning).

If Central Government want more dwellings to be built by all councils, shouldn’t there also be an emphasis on the essential services needed and provide the funding that these local bodies need?

Please note that with the increase in population, comes more revenue from taxes, so the closure of the Portland Hospital in August, the slow demise of the Weymouth NHS facility, the cutting of services at Dorset County Hospital, the loss of a Women’s Refuge, a Tourist Information Center, the closure of Mental Health Unit in Weymouth, the cutback in the emergency services, including the Police, the loss of Coastguard facilities and the transport dilemma are turning our area into one of mindless neglect.

If the national strategy is to build more housing, even on an overcrowded and overstretched road networked peninsular, then please provide the funding to support everything else that is required for a transition that upholds the principal of civilized living.
