Applications are open for Bournemouth’s Tourism Awards 2015 and local businesses are being encouraged to get in the running and make sure they receive the recognition they deserve before entry closes in the New Year.

Now in its 9thyear, the annual awards recognise the best services and attractions in Bournemouth and the region. Entry is open to hotels, holiday parks, restaurants, night-time venues, visitor attractions and local businesses that contribute to Bournemouth’s status as the best coastal resort, as voted in the UK Travel Awards 2014.

The deadline for entry is midnight on the 11thJanuary 2015 so organisers are issuing a reminder before the Christmas holidays to ensure applications are submitted in time.

Tourism Portfolio Holder, Councillor Lawrence Williams, said: “Bournemouth’s Tourism Awards celebrate the extraordinary passion and hard work demonstrated over the course of the year by individuals and local businesses, all aimed at continuously improving the resort. Ultimately, this dedication has resulted in Bournemouth maintaining its reputation as the UK’s premier destination.”

Winners will be announced as part of the awards ceremony being held at Bournemouth Pavilion on 27thFebruary.

Chair of the Bournemouth Accommodation and Hotel Association (BAHA), Paul Clarke, said: “While the winners undoubtedly represent the cream of the crop, the awards pay tribute to everyone involved and are a reminder of the variety of experiences on offer to visitors. We’d encourage anyone thinking of applying to make sure that they seize the opportunity to be in the running and don’t wait until it’s too late!”
