Two people have been found dead in a camper van in the New Forest, having attended a local cider festival shortly before their deaths.
The bodies of a 38-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, both from Blandford Forum in Dorset, were discovered by paramedics inside the parked vehicle on Pound Lane in Burley on Saturday, 12th October.
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that officers attended the scene after being alerted by their colleagues from the South Central Ambulance Service.
A police spokesman stated: “Our South Central Ambulance Service partners made us aware of the unexpected death of two people inside a parked camper van on Pound Lane, Burley. Officers attended the scene. Their next of kin have been notified and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The two individuals had been at the New Forest Cider craft festival, which was held over the weekend. A spokesperson for the festival organisers expressed their sympathy, telling the Southern Daily Echo: “Our thoughts and condolences are with their family and friends at this very difficult time.”
Seeking to clarify the circumstances, the spokesperson added: “The incident occurred in a private vehicle on Saturday night, and was not connected to the event itself. The police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances, and we are co-operating fully with their inquiries.”
The deaths are not being treated as suspicious, and the case will now be passed to the coroner to establish the exact cause of the tragedy.
