Officers searching for a missing man from Weymouth have very sadly found a body.

Kenneth Rampton, aged 49, was last seen at his home address in the town at around 5.30am on Tuesday 5 January 2021. He spoke to a family member at around 2pm the same day and said he would return home around 9pm, but he had not been seen or heard from since.

Following searches by officers, a body was found in the Poundbury Road area of Dorchester at around 4.10pm on Wednesday 6 January 2021.

While formal identification has not yet taken place, the body is believed to be that of Kenneth. His family has been informed and the coroner has been notified. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Chief Inspector Danny Thompson, of Dorset Police, said: “Our thoughts are with Kenneth’s family at this extremely difficult time.

“We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and helped in the search efforts.”
