Officers searching for missing Poole man Richard Smith are very sad to update that a body has been found.

Following an extensive search for Richard Smith

we have to inform you that he has tragically been found dead.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.47pm that a body of a man had been found in the Meyrick Park area in Bournemouth.

While the body has yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of 57-year-old Richard, who was reported missing having last been seen in the Wallisdown area on Thursday 29 February 2024. Richard’s family has been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner has been notified.

Inspector Jon Sainsbury, of Dorset Police, said: “Our thoughts are with Richard’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“I would like to thank all those who have been involved in the search efforts for Richard over recent days, including volunteers from Dorset Search and Rescue (DorSAR).”
