Dorset Police received a call at 4.43am on Wednesday 27 April 2022 relating to an alleged robbery at the junction of Knightsdale Road and Newstead Road, near to The Marsh playing fields. The victim, a man aged in his 20s, was reportedly assaulted and his phone and car keys were stolen.

It was reported that his car – a black Ford Fiesta Zetec – was then taken from his home address nearby. This was found later the same morning nearby in Baycliffe Road.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to facial injuries.

Following an investigation by Weymouth CID, two local 17-year-old boys were arrested and, less than 24 hours after the incident, they were charged with robbery and criminal damage. They are due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 28 April 2022.

Detectives from Weymouth CID are continuing to carry out enquiries in relation to the matter and are urging anyone with information to get contact police. They are still appealing for anyone who has come across a set of Ford car keys on a bunch with a gold house key and photo of a child to please leave them in place and contact police to arrange for collection.
