Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as they investigate a hate crime incident in Bournemouth.

At around 1pm on Wednesday 27 March 2024, two men were walking in Westover Road close to the junction with Gervis Place when two men shouted homophobic abuse at them.

It was further reported that at around 1.50pm, the victims were walking down Old Christchurch Road when water was thrown over them. The offenders were reported to have fled the scene shortly after.

The offenders are described as being aged around 16 to 21 years old, of slim build and average height. They were wearing black Puffa-style coats with black hooded tops underneath, black Nike tracksuit bottoms and black trainers. One of them was wearing a small black Trapstar shoulder bag and the other a black beanie hat.

Police Constable Max Stewart, of Dorset Police, said: “We take reports of hate crime seriously and will do all we can to support victims and identify potential offenders.

“We are following all available lines of enquiry and would ask anyone who witnessed either event happen, or has information about who was responsible, to please come forward.”
